Getting Insurance Reimbursement for Your Compression Stockings

Don’t you just envy those ladies who don’t have varicose veins? Not only they have the full rights to flaunt their legs but they don’t have to spend money for compression stockings as well. Patients who suffer from venous disorders are sometimes required to wear compression stockings as part of their therapy. These stockings are quite pricey but they may be covered by your medical coverage. When buying stockings through the internet though, patients must pay for the stockings first then get reimbursement from the insurance company.

Patients are oftentimes intimidated by these big insurance companies therefore won’t pursue reimbursement. For your information, getting reimbursement can be somewhat simple. The most important thing you just have to know is the insurance company’s rules. If you are aware of your insurers’ guidelines, you will certainly be able to get your reimbursement in a snap.

All insurance companies have a particular reimbursement form that the patient must complete. Fill-up the form and prepare the required documents for reimbursement. These may include a receipt for the compression stockings and/or a written prescription from your physician. Verify with your insurer if they will accept a copy of these documents or if the original is necessary. Just to be safe, always keep duplicates of these important documents.

Once you have completed the form and prepared the required documentation, send it all to your insurance company through U.S. Mail and require a signature confirmation. Within about thirty days, you will receive a notice regarding payment or denial.
